CHALLENGE:
Sentry Interactive is faced with the challenge of creating a comprehensive digital ecosystem that integrates all its devices, from mobile applications to digital kiosks, with a central focus on security and user experience. Additionally, they must ensure the effective integration of Doordeck security technology to deliver unprecedented access control.
OBJECTIVES:
- Develop a comprehensive operating system covering both front-end and back-end for mobile applications, console manager, and digital kiosks.
- Integrate Doordeck's security technology to ensure efficient and secure access control.
- Create the best digital experience possible for tech buildings, emphasizing the values of security, innovation, and Sentry Interactive's technology.
PROPOSED SOLUTION:
To address these challenges, Sentry Interactive implemented a comprehensive full-stack development approach, leveraging the latest technologies in both front-end and back-end to ensure optimal performance and an exceptional user experience. The following steps were followed:
- Research and Design: Extensive market benchmarking and user research were conducted to understand the needs and expectation of the end user.
- Front-end Development: Modern technologies such as Flutter Web were used, enabling deployment of both console and kiosk platforms on different devices. For example, a end-user may have a kiosk in a web tower and the reception respond from a mobile phone, or have the entire system based on Apple, where the kiosk calls from an iPad and the reception responds from a Macbook Air.
- Back-end Development: An AWS, Kotlin, Armeria, and gRPC-based scalable architecture is implemented, encompassing every aspect of this project. From the communication between Kiosk and Receptionist to calendar management, permissions for NFC/QR door access, and an administration panel for facility clients. This backend incorporates several security measures established using the latest technologies to ensure our clients' peace of mind and the privacy of their data.
- User Experience (UX) Design: With the aim of ensuring the best user experience and understanding the real needs of visitors and employees, the best digital experience was designed with an ecosystem that brings together all different users to design different interfaces to be intuitive, accessible, and appealing. Close collaboration with developers ensured seamless integration between design and functionality across all products, from the app to the console manager and interactive kiosk.
- Integration and Testing: Comprehensive testing was conducted to ensure system quality and security at all development stages. Careful integration of all components was carried out to ensure smooth operation.
- Deployment and Maintenance: Upon completion of the operating system development for Sentry Interactive devices, deployment, and maintenance were carried out using advanced technology such as Console Manager and Fully Cloud EMM. These tools allow centralized control and remote management of devices, facilitating agile response to any eventuality. With Fully Cloud EMM, Sentry Interactive can monitor in real-time, detect faults, and configure devices from any location, ensuring optimal system operation. Additionally, this solution simplifies the incorporation of new devices, streamlining any infrastructure expansion or update process. Together, these measures ensure service continuity and customer satisfaction by offering efficient management and rapid response to any issues.
